Motion Detectors – How to Protect Your Home From the Bad Guy

Motion Detectors can be the first line of defense to keep a burglar out of your house.

Just think about how and where someone could get into your house without much trouble.

Are your doors and windows really secure including the upstairs windows? Do you have an outside entrance to your basement What about your garage — is it detached or is it part our your house? All of these are potential entrances for a burglar.

So you ask “How, then can I prevent a burglar from getting into my home?”

The answer is Motion Detectors which also includes Door and Window alarms. These small, inexpensive items are portable and are battery operated so you don’t have to worry if the power goes out — the Motion Detectors still live on!

Part 1 of this article will concentrate on the Motion Detectors used in the house. Part 2 will show the need for Motion Detectors near structures outside the house.

The most common of these Motion Detectors are stand-alones that are placed near the area of your house that you want protected, e.g. a front or back door. The Motion Detector will give off a very loud alarm when it detects any motion.

What about the burglar who strikes during the day when no one’s at home? Well, there’s even a Motion Detector that will actually call the police as well as your cell phone when someone breaks into your house. And, if you like, it will also give off a 125 dB (very loud) alarm when activated to scare the intruder off. By the way, you don’t need another phone line in your house for this Motion Detector.

Another type of Motion Detector comes with a keypad so that only you know the combination to turn it on and off. This is very useful if you have teenagers who want to sneak in and out of the house late at night.

There is also a Dog Bark Motion Detector that has the sound of a large, German Shepherd-like dog barking when someone approaches your house. No one wants to burglarize a house with a large dog — dog bites hurt!

These are but a few types of Motion Detectors that are available to protect your home.

It’s your choice — without a Motion Detector you leave your house easy prey for burglars; with a Motion Detector you have an alarm system to scare the bad guy, as well as let you know that your home has been invaded.

Don’t become a crime statistic!

Surveillance Cameras Wired vs. Wireless

One of the most common questions that I get asked on a regular basis is which type of surveillance camera is better, wired or wireless? The answer that I give to this question is always the same, neither one is better nor worse, it all depends on your situation.

Rather than go into a long, drawn out lesson on surveillance cameras, I’ll just give you what I consider to be some of the pros and cons of both wired and wireless security cameras.

Wireless cameras
The obvious benefit of a wireless surveillance camera is that it can be placed almost anywhere without needing to figure out how to conveniently run the connecting cables. For many applications, such as covert surveillance, this can be a necessity. An example of this would be a hidden nanny cam for your kids’ room that’s disguised as a stuffed animal. Let’s face it; a teddy bear with a cable coming out of its paw is hardly an inconspicuous hidden camera.

The down side to a wireless surveillance camera is just as obvious. Wireless cameras need to have their battery packs frequently recharged for them to work. Also depending on how far away the wireless receiver is from the camera, the video signal could be subjected to interference from other electronic devices in the area.

Wired cameras
The pros and cons of a wired surveillance camera is pretty much the opposite of the wireless ones. On the plus side, wired cameras don’t need to be frequently recharged, so once they’re installed, you can leave them alone and they’ll continue to work for you day in and day out. Also, because the camera is directly connected to the monitor or recording device, the signal is not subject to video interference from outside sources. The down side is that they are limited by the length and placement of the connecting cables. It may not be practical to have 300 or 400 feet of wire running through your building from the camera to the monitor.

All in all, there are benefits as well as down sides to both wired and wireless surveillance cameras. So instead of asking which one works better, the only question that you really need to ask yourself is which one will work better for your particular situation.

Why Choose Wireless Security Cameras?

In the past, only wired security cameras were available in the market. The problem with this type of security camera is that it can be difficult to install especially in existing homes or buildings. In fact, some people even get the help of professionals in order to set it up for them. The emergence of the wireless security cameras gave users a better option. Here are some reasons why:

Wireless security cameras are easy to install.

Setting up this type of camera is very easy. You just need to pick the area where you would like to install your camera and find a stable surface on which you can mount it. After that, you just need to attach the video receiver to a device where you can watch the live feed. This can be a VCR, digital video recorder, a TV or a computer. It really depends on the medium that the device is compatible to. The next thing that you need to consider is the power source of your wireless camera. You can either plug it into an outlet or use batteries. Battery usage is generally for short term use of 4 to 8 hours, just make sure that you replace or charge the batteries regularly.

Wireless security cameras do not require a permanent set up.

Unlike its wired counterpart, the wireless security camera can be easily moved from one place to another. It is great for areas that do not need to be monitored constantly. Even better, if you feel like changing the location of your camera because its current position does not provide you with the footage that you want, you can easily change it.

Wireless security cameras can be hidden easily.

With a wireless camera, you can keep your home protected without the added clutter. You can install it anywhere without worrying about the hideous wires that can trail all over your house or office. At the same time, the wires cannot be traced to the security camera, making it easier to hide.

As you can see, with a wireless security camera, you have convenience, comfort and security in one package. This is the reason why more people prefer to use this type of camera. Because it is very user-friendly, they don’t have to spend more money in order to hire someone to do it for them. Even without an extensive knowledge in gadgets and technology, they can easily set it up on their own just by reading the manual. So, if you are new to surveillance systems and are hesitant to buy one because of the hassle of putting everything together, getting a wireless security camera is a great idea.

Read This Before You Browse Nanny Cameras For Sale!

As a good parent, your first priority is making sure that your children are safe at all times. There are many products on the market to help you attain this piece of mind, but few are as effective as nanny cameras. In this article I will explore the various types of nanny cameras and help the reader (you!) to make an educated decision when looking to buy one for yourself.

Isn’t it expensive to install a hidden nanny camera in my house? I am often asked this question and most people are pleasantly surprised by how affordable it is nowadays to purchase and install your own camera. While it might have cost you $500-$1,000 to purchase a high quality hidden nanny camera about 5 years ago, recent advancements in technology have made it possible for anyone to buy their own for between one and two hundred dollars!

Which type of nanny camera is best suited for me? This is another common question amongst home security enthusiasts. There are several key factors that you must consider:

1. Does your nanny camera need to be hidden? While hidden cameras are often very small and convenient, they sometimes lack the digital clarity of larger spy cameras that can be placed out in the open.

2. How will you watch the video feed from your nanny camera? Many cameras allow you to watch the video feed remotely via your personal computer or laptop up to several miles away! This can be exciting and convenient for the user but some people prefer to watch their nanny cam’s video feed on a television that is devoted to their spy camera.

3. Is it important to you that your nanny camera is wireless? Installing a wireless camera can be extremely convenient for many parents, but this type of hidden camera can also be slightly more expensive.
