DVR camera home security systems have many benefits when it comes to keeping your home secure. The evolution of home security cameras has been multifaceted.

Security cameras have improved in the areas of price, size, visual capabilities, and the wireless aspect. All of these innovations combine to make DVR camera home security systems accessible and extremely effective.

Price As technology moves forward, it tends to get cheaper, and DVR camera home security systems are no exception. As the technology has advanced and has come to enjoy more of a mass appeal, these security cameras have become affordable for home security systems. They are also plentiful and easily found when one ventures into the market of security equipment. If you want security cameras then they are not hard to find.

Size Another result of advanced technology is the decrease in size. This makes it easier to position cameras in smaller spaces which in turn makes them more discreet.

When cameras are less noticeable then they can be more effective in case anyone tries to deliberately avoid a camera’s visual field. They are less noticeable too in that you do not need to scar the naturally appealing face of your home with bulky, obvious security equipment.

Visual Capabilities The visual capabilities of cameras have progressed not only in the overall quality of the transmission but in the various aspects of visual capabilities as well.

Special lenses can be attached to cameras to enhance their views. Their view may be enhanced to cover a greater distance, a greater visual span to cover a larger area, or to improve the clarity of detail picked up by a camera.

Wireless The optional wireless aspect of security cameras these days adds to their positioning potential. You can put them anywhere without having to worry about placement of wires.

This means that you can get a discreet, clear signal from anywhere you place one of your security cameras. This is beneficial both from the security point of view as well as from the effect on the appearance of your home. Your décor does not have to suffer in order for you to be safe.

DVR camera home security systems have evolved greatly in recent years. They have become available as a part of home security systems for everyone. Because of their improved cost, size, visual capabilities, and the fact that they can be wireless, every home can benefit from the safety afforded by security cameras.

By: Mika Hamilton

About the Author:

Spy cameras can be exceptionally helpful and beneficial when it comes to protecting your home, family and business. Designed to be both affordable and reliable, today’s modern nanny cams are also a wise purchase because they have become easier and simpler to use. In the early days of micro spy camera technology, you needed a Master’s Degree in order to figure out which wire goes with which connection. Now, I’m being silly with that last statement – however, spy cams were incredibly difficult to properly set up and use. Nowadays, nanny cameras for the house or office are manufactured with the user – that’s you – in mind. Literally within minutes of receiving your wireless nanny camera, you can have it up, running and recording.

But, just because spy cams are increasingly easier to use, that doesn’t mean that their self-setting and self-correcting. What that means is that, there are some best practices that you can follow in regards to wireless micro spy cameras. Now, first and foremost, you should always read the instruction manual that comes with your nanny camera. It will give you the nuts and bolts about how to assemble and connect it to your television set, computer or viewing monitor. However, if you want to really get the most from your spy camera, there are logical rules that you should follow and adhere to.

Now, these rules aren’t etched in stone and they shouldn’t be considered as canon. You have to truly and deeply evaluate the reasons that brought you to purchase your very own spy cam. You also have to have a real understanding about how, why, where, when and who you intend to focus your nanny cam directives on. Of course, these reasons will vary from people to people – and the reasons that you have will be different from someone else. However, even though the nature of owning and using a wireless spy cam are personal in nature, there are common best practices that you can follow to ensure that you effectively and properly get the absolute best from your nanny camera.

Here are some general guidelines that you can follow that can help you enjoy the security and peace of mind that spy cameras are designed to deliver:

i. RESEARCH THE LOCAL LAWS IN YOUR AREA

Do you know if you’re even allowed to have a spy cam where you live? Never assume your rights when it comes to nanny cam technology. Take a few moments and contact your local legal experts who can properly guide you on where, when and how you can use your spy camera. You’ll be surprised as to the reasons you can – and can’t – employ a spy cam. This only takes a few minutes, but it can save you a tremendous amount of time in terms of hassle and headaches.

ii. KNOW WHERE YOU ARE GOING TO USE YOUR SPY CAMERA

If you know which room you plan to use your nanny camera, that’s great. But, your planning shouldn’t stop there. Take a strong look at each corner of the room where you intend to place your spy cam. High locations, low areas, walls, hidden corners, objects which can provide interference, power sources – all of these facets come into play when deciding where to place your spy camera. You should take as much time as necessary to get your room camera-ready. At the same time, hidden cameras are designed to be hidden. If you’re camera features an obvious design which lends itself to easy detection, then you really need to take the time to properly figure out where you’re going to place it within the room.

These are two simple things which many people accidentally forget about. Its understandable to be excited about having and owning your own hidden spy nanny cam. However, if you don’t take the time and really think about your spy camera, you’ll end up either being in violation of the law or you’ll end up undermining the capabilities of your wireless nanny camera. You’ve probably taken the time to research which camera you’re going to purchase and buy. You should also take the time and know that you can indeed, get the most from your spy camera.

By: Manny J Manuel

About the Author:

Because most mini wireless spy cameras are so expensive, it is really important to buy the right camera that would answer to your needs so that you will get your money’s worth. Here are a few tips on how to pick the best mini spy camera for you.

Use and Function

How are you going to use your mini wireless spy cameras? This is the first question that you need to answer before going online to buy one. For some people, mini spy cameras are used covertly. In other words, these devices are used by people like private investigators and undercover police officers to secretly monitor their targets. In most cases, these cameras are concealed in small objects like pens and buttons, while others are attached to sunglasses and hats. Others use mini spy cameras to watch over their property and households. In this set-up, cameras are hidden in objects like coffee cans and picture frames. Some spy cameras are even concealed behind pinholes to make them undetectable.

Price Tags

Mini wireless spy cameras that are used to observe people tend to be more expensive than cameras that are used to observe locations and venues. Suffice to say, the technology that is involved in body worn spy cameras tend to be more advanced and complicated. Indeed, one can only marvel at the ingenuity of these devices, especially in the way certain design issues such as power distribution and signal transmission are addressed. That is why the smaller these spy cameras are, the pricier they get. However, high-priced spy cameras come with better features. For one thing, the more expensive spy cams can carry up to 2GB of storage, letting you record hours and hours of surveillance video! Affordable spy cameras have less features, and their recording times are somewhat limited and below-standard.

When In Doubt, Seek Help

If you want to get the complete lowdown on mini wireless spy cameras, you may have to go to the store and ask the opinions of an expert. It would be a great idea to confer your budget to the expert, so that he or she can recommend the best device that your money can buy. Educate yourself on the ins and outs of spy cameras by reading product reviews and related articles. This way, you will know how a specific spy camera was rated by critics and enthusiasts. Heed the expert’s advice on how to install these spy cameras properly. If you are confident of your skills, you can set the things up yourself. But if you are not sure, you can ask the expert to do the installation for you. You will have to pay a fee for his services, of course, but at least, you are assured that everything is configured correctly.

Do not be too concerned with the technical aspects of mini wireless spy cameras. Leave that to the experts! All that you should think about is to get a spy camera that provides the results that you want.

By: Nahshon Roberts

About the Author:

Indoor Home Security Camera systems are available in several different styles. Indoor Dome cameras are popular for systems where theft deterrence is a major factor. Truth is, when people see a camera, they are much less likely to do anything illegal or immoral. Visible Indoor Home Security Cameras, like indoor hi-res dome cameras provide great quality video, often with wide-angle views that can be recorded to your VCR, Standalone DVR or PC-Based DVR recorder. These Indoor Dome Home Security Cameras also come in Infrared night vision capabilities, which provide night vision even in No-Light conditions at various distances so that you can record what is happening in your home, even when you cannot see at all yourself.

Indoor Covert, hidden style cameras are probably the most popular type of indoor home security camera because these cameras can provide great quality video of the inside of your home, and no one will ever realize they are cameras. These types of cameras can look like virtually anything, such as a book, clock, alarm system motion detector, sprinkler or anything else. Each of these cameras record through a tiny pinhole lens, so virtually anything can be a camera. These cameras are very popular for the inside of homes because they do not stand out against your décor.

Whether you choose visible indoor dome style home security cameras or indoor covert style cameras, you have several options available to you for monitoring or recording from your cameras. For basic, low budget systems, a simple camera can be plugged into the RCA input of any television to provide basic monitoring from one security camera (cost ranges from $40 – $150 depending on camera and cable type) or the camera can be plugged into an existing VCR for recording onto standard VHS tapes.

For more advanced digital systems, up to 16 cameras can be plugged directly into a Standalone DVR to view all cameras at once on your TV, and record the video onto the recycling hard drive inside the DVR. These standalone systems are very popular because it shows the cameras all up on your TV at once, and can be controlled with a standard remote control. PC Based Systems are also an option, as they provide great quality recording onto the hard drive inside of the PC. These PC-Based DVR Systems are great for budget installations, because they can use your existing Windows XP or Vista PC for recording from the cameras.

No matter what your home security needs, you can find an affordable home security camera system to suit your needs. These systems continue to grow in popularity, and provide great peace of mind to homeowners throughout the country already.

By: Michael Dunteman

About the Author:

Security Camera Systems in your home are almost a requirement like running gas or electric. Why? Well, for one reason you can argue that the world is less safe than ever. But, on a far more practical level the fact is that security camera systems can be installed almost effortlessly these days, and it costs very little to set up a simple security camera to monitor your home.

If you’re interested in purchasing a security camera or cameras to improve the safety of your home, and haven’t done so yet, maybe you haven’t been sold on the benefits of the systems. In this article, I will give you some benefits that you should consider to help you gain that additional piece of mind you will get knowing that your home is being monitored and is more secure.

The first benefit is that the technology is better than ever. This works two ways. First of all, you can get high quality surveillance and high-quality hidden wireless cameras put into your home that will give you everything that an old whizbang high-tech system would give only the richest homeowners.

And that leads us to the second benefit — it is cheaper than ever to set up a security camera in the home. For example, I want you to consider this situation.

For as little as $100, in some cases less, you can purchase a security camera bundled with software. Then it is just a matter of setting up the camera and installing the software so it can feed the information from the video of the camera onto your computer.

If you wish to just view the camera from your computers, then you do not have to do anything more. Simply open up the software, have the computer turned on, and there you go — you will see what the camera sees.

Even if you wanted to monitor your security camera from 1000 miles away, it can be done inexpensively. All you have to do is set up a video stream onto an Internet site and password protect it so only you can access it. Then, you are able to watch your surveillance camera from anywhere in the world that you can access a computer from, that has an Internet connection.

These are just some of the simple and crude security camera systems you can set up on your own. In any case, the point is that technology is better than ever, and cheaper than ever, so you can get more safety without having to make a huge investment.

By: Kim Calise

About the Author:

Whether you live in a condo, apartment or villa, here are five reasons why your home security cameras should not be wired.

Wireless is Affordable

Wireless technology has become very affordable. Basic web cameras are available for as low as $20 but prices rise with the number of features the camera has. High definition wireless cameras with night-vision and voice or motion sensors can be a bit pricey, but if you can’t afford that, even a low quality camera does the job well.

In fact, if you’re on a low budget, do yourself a favor and invest in a few hardy PC cameras with microphones instead of over-spending on high-tech gear.

Plus, unlike the traditional wired security camera, you don’t need to hire an expensive firm of experts to install, maintain and monitor your wireless cams.

Wireless Means Easy Installation

You make your pick, buy the item, read the manual and set it up yourself, just like any other wireless toy you have. There are none of the hassles that come with running wires and cables.

This is as simple as removing from box, charging device and placing it in desired position (all while you install the manufacturers’ software). Once the system is rigged to your computer, you can view live and recorded feeds yourself.

Wireless Surveillance = Mobility & Flexibility

As wireless hidden cameras are battery operated, you must have a convenient power source nearby. The battery allows you to relocate cams.

When you’re home you can use it to keep an eye on the the baby while you do your chores. Do remember though, outdoor cameras are tougher because they are weather protected so your indoor camera cannot double up for night duty in the lawn.

Wireless Cameras Are Completely Covert

Wireless cameras are usually compact and easily concealed. This is great as it prevents burglars from spotting the camera and taking it out. Some cameras even come enclosed in a dome to ensure they cannot be tampered with.

Wireless Security Is Smart Security

While surveillance doesn’t prevent crimes, it does catch criminals very effectively. Wireless cameras may include motion sensors that trigger the cameras’ recording. In addition, some cameras are also capable or reporting a break-in to authorities or a delegated neighbor.

While this may not directly prevent burglaries, the extra security will make it easier to apprehend the culprit so you can rest easy knowing your home and loved ones are safe and sound.

By: Amy White

About the Author:

Imagine returning home to find that your home has been vandalized or broken into. It is a scary feeling to know someone has been in your home. The loss of your valuables is not as devastating as the fact that you feel violated. Most of the time suspects in such incidents are not apprehended.

You can help protect your home from being their next target by installing a home security camera. Should someone approach your home there will be some evidence to help find those responsible for it as well.

Home security cameras have become much more affordable over the past several years so if you like the idea but you don’t want the expense you will be very surprised to find out how affordable they are. You have the option of having the home security camera set up by a professional or you can get one that you install on your own. If you have a very large home you may want to place several of them in different areas. This will help you cover all the angles of your home.

Home security cameras can be wireless so that they can be placed anywhere. You can also go with the traditional wire models and save more money in doing so. The majority of home security cameras are motion activated so they won’t be filming unless there is activity taking place. You may discover which neighborhood dog is treating themselves to your garbage in the middle of the night as well with your home security camera.

There are many different ways to set up the feed for your home security camera. Many of them allow you to access the information from your computer. You can see what is taking place at any given time. This works very well if you have your home security camera set up with an alarm that contacts you when it is activated. Others require you to review tapes of the material that have been recorded on it from each home security camera.

The debate remains over whether a home security camera should be placed out into the open or hidden. There are pros and cons to both methods. If the security cameras are hidden then it is possible a criminal will still try to access your home or vandalize your property. The information of the activities taking place will be recorded without their knowledge and hopefully allows law enforcement to prosecute them.

On the other hand a home security camera that is in the open can be a very strong deterrent. Criminals often look for the homes they can access without attracting any attention. You also run the risk of the criminal being determined to get into your home so they destroy the home security camera. It is possible to have one in the open and one in hiding so that you are able to deter them as well as record them if they do decide to act anyway.

By: Emily Brooks

About the Author:

Security cameras are used for video surveillance and are used both for business and residential applications.

There are few things you should keep in mind when selecting the right low light security camera for your needs. How do you know your camera will perform in low light situations? Each camera has a specification known as the camera Lux rating or Minimum illumination rating.

Based on this you will be able to determine whether a camera can perform well in low light application or not. Lux is a unit measuring the intensity of light. The light of a full moon is about 0.1 lux, while bright sunlight is about 100,00 lux. The closer to zero the Lux rating the better the camera will perform in a low light application.

For example, night vision security cameras have a Lux rating of 0. This means the security camera can see in complete darkness with no light required. Most monochrome or black and white security cameras have a lower Lux rating than color security cameras therefore they perform better in low light situation.

However recent advancements in color camera technology have improved their low light performance. These cameras are called day night cameras. A high end low light security camera will automatically switch to a black and white picture at night for optimum performance in a low light situation and switch back to color once the light level is adequate.

When selecting a camera you should always factor in the follow

1. The location and height of the camera

2. The distance from the object you are monitoring

3. The available lighting

4. Lux rating

5. Will it have direct or indirect sunlight on it.

The order of importance on these 5 things will be strictly a personal choice, but are all equally important when purchasing a low light security camera. Your over all performance will suffer if you don’t choose the right camera for the security application you are faced with.

It is virtually impossible to describe all types of available security cameras available. Cameras have become smaller, less expensive, and better qualities than they were in the past. These improvements are good for the consumer and make the job of finding the right camera easier

In conclusion, the advancements in low light security cameras provide you with many options. Be sure and know the lux rating of your camera. The closer to 0 the better your camera will be able to perform without light and the better job it will do in providing low light security for you.

By: Steven Williams

About the Author:

Looking for ways to deter criminals without spending too much? Whether you want more security at home or in your business, fake security cameras are the cheapest way to make most criminals think twice. Using real security equipment can cost you into the thousands of dollars, especially if you have a large area to protect, but using fake security cameras gives you the appearance of having a very secure system set up for far less.

You can find fake security cameras anywhere you buy real security equipment. The cameras are very realistic and will fool any thief who comes in and is thinking of slipping a little something under his coat. If you are very short on cash, the easiest way to go is with simple shielded or mirrored dome cameras… minus the cameras. Anyone with criminal tendencies will figure that there are hidden security cameras within the ceiling domes.

While this may not deter all criminals, certainly those who have no particular plan will be stopped short by the idea of their actions being videotaped. The fear of being caught on video stops the majority of petty thieves and may prevent some corporate issues as well. Having fake security equipment can be a good way to stop most people from committing a crime, though you will still be in danger of attracting those that couldn’t care less!

Another way to use fake security cameras is to set them up to supplement your real surveillance equipment. This way, you use real security equipment in the areas that are most important, such as the front door or parking lot and supplement for effect with fake security or dome cameras. These would be used in areas where you want to remind people that you are watching them, but don’t have many problems, like just outside the bathroom or near the store room.

Dome cameras also work in the middle of a larger room, giving the impression that every move is being recorded when really you are only watching the door. Since the dome is impossible to see through, people will just assume that you have either multiple cameras watching every corner of the room or that there is one camera that can swivel to watch them.

Placement of your fake security cameras is very important. You want them to look real, so having a camera sitting on a shelf, pointing at the opposite wall isn’t going to cut it. Placing your cameras, real or not, is a precision art. You want them to aim at the potential trouble spots, such as the front door, back door and any areas that are hidden from regular personnel by shelves or walls.

To make your fake security cameras look even more realistic, make sure they are set up the same way your real cameras are. For example, if your real security equipment is wireless, make sure your fake cameras are, too. And vice versa, it will be fairly obvious that you aren’t using all real equipment when some of your cameras have wires and other don’t. It’s very easy to fake a wired in camera, just use a hot glue gun to attach a cable to the back of your camera and have it run into the ceiling panels or wherever your supposed security center is.

Fake security cameras and dome cameras that are actually empty are an excellent way to keep criminals on their toes without having to shell out big bucks for a real security system. Just remember that if you are ever burglarized, though, you may not have the necessary evidence to find the criminals.

Purchase your Fake (Dummy) Security Cameras and place them anywhere to make people think that they are being watched. You should also consider placing a few Dome Cameras in high profile areas where you may suspect you have a problem.

By: Ken Potter

About the Author:

Deciding upon either a residential cctv security system or a video surveillance camera to be utilized for a business purpose, can be an upsetting experience if you are unaware of what you seek in security protection. For Example, do you desire a true or dummy residential video surveillance camera system, meaning, do you require a system that will notify the police, or are you satisfied with the illusion of a fake dummy cctv video surveillance system to keep criminals away from your home or business? Is the appearance of a security monitor important to you? Do you prefer a hidden of obvious video surveillance camera system? Whatever your requirements or desires may be, there is a video camera surveillance system which can be designed and installed to your satisfaction.

Security cameras are marketed in three basic styles, thus by understanding these basic types the number of decisions to be made with regard to your video surveillance system will be minimized.

The first kind of home security camera is known as a dome camera. Obviously, this camera comes in the shape of a dome and it fits conveniently on the ceiling of your home or business. You will find the dome cameras often times in casinos where they are used to monitor the tables. You will also find home security at its most fashionable with the dome lens. There are dome cameras that can be placed outside, however, you must use a special armor type in order to do this kind of mounting. Sony carries two different types of dome security cameras and they are a leader in the industry. You can choose from the Verifocal dome camera, which has the highest resolution (420 lines) and an adjustable lens. You can also purchase Sony’s Infrared Armor dome camera, which acts as a hidden camera and is the most durable of all of the dome cameras. Because the angle at which they are viewing is impossible to detect except if you are very close to it, makes dome cameras the most popular video surveillance cameras. They come in black or white and they all have adjustable lenses.

The bullet camera is another type of residential security surveillance camera. The lens is long an looks very much like a rifle, which is where the camera name originates. Bullet cameras are easily visible and can be mounted to a wall or a ceiling. They use a 12V DC voltage, and the power cable should be included when the camera is purchased. The majority of these cameras will produce color images and then switch their resolutions to black and white in circumstances of low light levels. The resolution during the day is much better with the bullet security systems, but if you have an alternate form of lighting, like a streetlight, people can sometimes be seen from up to 70 feet away. The most popular brand of bullet security cameras is the SPECO CVC-6805SX, which is color and has a fixed lens of 4mm.

The other home security camera system that is popular in order to secure your business or home is the infrared cameras. These cameras are good if you need to see mainly at night. A main issue with the infrared camera is that it does not do well for residential security. The lens of an infrared camera has lights constructed around it so as to produce an image that appears as if it was filmed during daylight hours. Do not confuse the infrared cameras with night vision cameras because the main difference between the two is that the night vision cameras do not have the built in lighting. The most cost efficient infrared security camera is made by Digital Peripheral Solutions and it is the QSVC422 CCD color outdoor camera, which is $137 to $157 depending on where you purchase your system.

Often people desire to have a sense of security at home no matter what. Installing a home security camera because it gives you piece of mind, or setting up a camera at work to keep an eye out when you can’t be there could cut down on stress and anxiety. There is nothing wrong with wanting to protect your home, your business, your investments, or the people that you feel a responsibility towards. Setting up a type of monitoring alarm system in order to make yourself feel better when you cannot be around is a hands-on way to run your life.

By: John A.
