On one hand, you want to be able to defend yourself from individuals who have evil designs on your person and property. After all, it is your life and limb that is stake here and you want to hold on to them for as long as you possibly can.

On the other hand, you want to make your conscience clear and your freedom near by not accidentally killing your attacker. How do you accomplish such a delicate balancing act? Well, you apply these methods, of course!

Use Non-Lethal Weapons

Non-lethal weapons are designed to temporarily incapacitate their subjects instead of killing them. When your attacker is writhing in pain, you can take advantage of the window of opportunity for a hasty escape.

There are many commercially available non-lethal weapons in the market that will not break the bank but can break the spirit, or at least the body, of your attacker. These include pepper and mace sprays, electroshock devices like stun guns and stun batons as well as Tasers, and personal alarms. You will either drive your attackers away or immobilize them for a few precious minutes sufficient to make your quick getaway.

Focus on Escaping

Sure, you may want to exact sweet revenge on your attacker by physically assaulting and verbally castigating him/her. However, this is exactly the kind of vindictive reaction that can prolong your unfortunate contact with your attacker and thereby increasing the chances for direct confrontation.

And when it does come to direct confrontation, you are exposed to greater risks because your attacker can lash out in anger even when he/she is temporarily blinded by the pepper spray. And why would you want that to happen?

So, at the first chance of escape, take it. Just focus on getting yourself out of the dangerous situation with your life and limbs where they ought to be – attached to your body.

Go for the Vulnerable Albeit Not Life-threatening Areas

There are instances, admittedly, that direct confrontation cannot be avoided. In such cases, the next best thing to do is to attack the aggressors’ vulnerable areas in order to temporarily weaken his defense or disarm him of his deadly weapons. Of course, these vulnerable areas should be carefully chosen so that you don’t accidentally kill him.

First, you can aim for the genital area especially if your attacker is of the male gender. You should deliver a strong kick but be sure that you have the element of surprise on your side since most male attackers are prepared for such an attack. Or you can kick him in the knees, groin and throat since these are also vulnerable areas. And if when you are in high heels, use the pointed spikes to your advantage.

Second, you can make him unconscious by hitting him to his head with a blunt object. As much as possible, avoid using pointed objects like knives unless it’s the only available and reachable weapon in sight.

Third, if you hands are free but your legs are pinned down, gouge him in the eyes with your thumbs. This ought to temporarily blind him, momentarily relax his hold on you and then you can quickly flee.

And when you have escaped, run like the hounds of hell are after you, scream like a banshee to attract attention and just live to tell the tale.

By: David B Hepler

About the Author:

Telescopic Steel Batons are self protection devices that can keep you from becoming a crime statistic if some thug threatens you and wants your money or worse.

“This could never happen to me” you might say, “because I live in a very safe and secure neighborhood”. OK, give your local police a call and ask them how many 1-on-1 attacks have been committed lately in your ‘safe neighborhood’. Also ask them how many home burglaries occurred in your area.

I’ll bet that you will be surprised at the amount of crime that you didn’t know about.

You need some form of self protection with you at all times. Pepper Spray is a great deterrent but the best device that I’ve found is the Telescopic Steel Baton.

Why? This Steel Baton starts out compacted at approximately 7 inches. You can wear it on your belt with a holster or carry it in your pocket or purse.

Now, this compacted 7 inch device probably won’t look very threatening to an attacker.

But, with just a flick of the wrist, you will have an extension of your arm up to 2 feet of solid steel at your fingertips. Now your Steel Baton looks more than threatening to an attacker!

Telescopic Steel Batons can be expanded to 16, 21 and 26 inches depending on the model. They are lightweight, compact when compressed and are excellent self protection devices.

When you smack a person it’s like being hit with a thin, solid metal pipe only worse because this device is a solid piece of steel.

One good swat in the arm, leg or torso with a Telescopic Steel Baton will stop most attackers in his tracks. Being lightweight, it’s easy to quickly smack your attacker again and again to make your point that you’re not fooling around.

Telescopic Steel Batons can help keep you from becoming a crime statistic. Whether at home or out on the street, an attacker is an attacker and will try to do you harm if he gets the chance. Don’t Be the Next Victim!

For more information about Telescopic Steel Batons, a self protection product that will keep you safe and secure from the bad guys, please visit our website: http://www.feelsafeandsecure.com/telescopic_steel_batons.html and Don’t Be the Next Victim!

By: Larry Zolna

About the Author:

College is back in full swing. Our kids are off to school, away from home and in a new world. And that could be a very dangerous world!

You just have to hear the words “Virginia Tech” and uncomfortable, even fearful feelings come to your mind.

Because of this and other tragedies, colleges are quickly adding better security to their campuses. And that’s great because our kids have it hard enough trying to adapt to college life on campus. They want an education — but how about some safety education!

Today, unlike years ago, there are many kinds of personal safety and self protection devices available. Personal alarms are small and fit in any purse or pocket — they even clip to your belt. These alarms give off a very loud sound that will get anyone’s attention. Also, pepper spray comes in different camouflaged containers — pagers, pens, key chains and even lipstick!

Think of how it was when you went to college or high school. If you were lucky, your classes were close to each other. If you were like me, each class was in a different building, scattered all over the campus, usually on the top floor. The library was never next to the dorm …

When I went to college, it wasn’t like it is today. Coeds could walk alone at night on campus and feel fairly secure. But today, with colleges becoming so large, the parking lots, labs, study halls and the library seem to be in darker and more distant locations.

Kids, being kids, will brave the dark and look for shortcuts. They don’t realize what can happen to them. “It can’t happen to me” seems to be the ongoing thought.

Well, what if it does happen to them? Will your daughter (or son) be prepared for such an event? What will they do to protect and defend themselves?

Try this scenario. Your daughter sees a person who looks threatening and who wants to do more than just say hello. She should open her purse and pull a pepper spray canister out as well as her personal alarm. Better yet, especially if it is dark, she should have a personal alarm in her hand and the pepper spray on a keychain hanging on her purse. No, this is NOT paranoia — it’s just being smart and prepared.

Most personal alarms have a very loud alert that everyone will hear. This alone will stop most people in their tracks, and cause them to run away. But, if the attacker continues to approach, then it’s time to spray him with pepper spray.

Even though pepper spray is non-lethal, the bad guy will feel like he’s dying when his nose and eyes begin to run and his throat constricts. All he will be worrying about for the next 20-30 minutes is trying to breathe — tell your daughter to immediately run away and call 911 and let the cops handle him.

If your daughter is on a date and the guy tries something that she’s not happy with, a camouflaged pepper spray such as a lipstick or a pager will do the trick. These items look just like the real McCoy. He’ll never know what hit him until he’s on his knees coughing and wheezing. Then she should set off her personal alarm to attract attention, run away and call 911.

So, with this information in hand, send your daughter (or son) off to college as prepared for personal safety and self defense as they can be.

By: Larry Zolna

About the Author:

Lately you may be concerned with the increase in crime rate and the number of burglaries in your neighborhood. You’ve already given your entire family Personal Alarms as well as Pepper Spray for the older kids and spouse to keep the bad guys away.

But what about your house?

How about getting a large dog, maybe the size of a German Shepherd. No one wants to be attacked and bitten by a dog of any size, let alone one who can tear your arm off.

“But I don’t have a dog and I don’t want one” you say. “Besides, it’s too much trouble keeping one, especially since I frequently travel and am not at home. And, even more important, I have a family and don’t want them exposed to a vicious dog that could bite any one of my kids.”

Well then, how about a dog that doesn’t shed, doesn’t need feeding, doesn’t need to be taken for a walk and can’t bite anyone in your family but still barks loudly enough to keep most burglars away. And you can’t be sued about anyone being bitten.

Who in his right mind would approach a house with a large, barking dog just waiting for them to break in?

Most burglars will avoid any house with a barking dog because the last thing they want is any attention while they’re doing their dirty deeds.

So, if you have a dog that barks at noises or strangers in your home you have a good chance that the burglar will go somewhere else and leave you alone.

Guess what — this ‘dog’ is actually an electronic motion detector!

This amazing Dog Motion Detector will be on guard 24/7, will detect motion over 15 feet and has a volume control which makes it easier if you are at home. The Dog Motion Detector comes already assembled, needs no installation and is easy to use — no learning curve is necessary. The Dog Bark Motion Detector plugs into any standard electrical outlet.

The ‘dog’ sounds just like the German Shepherd that you were afraid to have in your house. And, the barking sound from your Dog Motion Detector increases as the prowler gets nearer to the door.

Also, while you’re at home the Dog Motion Detector gives you a choice of sounds when any visitors are coming. You can set it on the bark mode or a relaxing melody of tranquil sounds of nature (waterfall sounds as well as frogs and bird sounds).

Since your Dog Motion Detector is portable, you can use it in motel roooms, vacation homes, even garages or sheds where you keep any valuable tools or cars. Just think outside the box and you will find many other uses for this amazing Dog Motion Detector so you won’t become a crime statistic.

Don’t Be the Next Victim!

By: Larry Zolna

About the Author:
